Spanish Lessons Valdosta began in 2024 as a God-given dream—an opportunity to use my passion for languages and meaningful connections to serve others. What started as a vision has grown into a learning space where students not only develop Spanish language skills, but also a deep appreciation for diverse cultures.
I specialize in one-on-one instruction, tailored to meet each student's unique goals and learning style. My mission is to build bridges through language and help every student succeed—academically, personally, and culturally.
I serve students ages 5–18, as well as adults, and offer personalized lessons in:
- Conversational Spanish
- Homeschool Spanish
- Beginner Spanish
- Spanish 1 and 2
- Academic Tutoring for Spanish
Each student receives a full curriculum, with required books and materials to support learning beyond the classroom. Students receive an individual learning plan on how to reach their goals.

Meet the Founder: Destaney Velez
Hi! I’m Destaney, and welcome to Spanish Lessons Valdosta! I’m passionate about language, culture, and connection. I grew up in a multicultural home, with my mother's side being Mexican and Puerto Rican and my father's side African American. I grew up continually hearing Spanish, and that early exposure planted the seeds for a lifelong love of language. I began learning Spanish at age 15 and quickly knew it was something I wanted to pursue more deeply.
I earned my Bachelor’s degree in Spanish in 2023, where I developed not only my Spanish language skills but a deep appreciation for the richness of Hispanic cultures. After graduation, I began teaching Spanish to students in grades K–8, which allowed me to blend creativity and structure in helping children gain confidence in a second language.
To deepen my knowledge and impact, I went on to earn my Master’s in World Languages with a concentration in ESOL (English for Speakers of Other Languages). This advanced training gave me a strong foundation in language acquisition theory, instructional strategies, and cultural responsiveness. I am a certified teacher in the state of Georgia and currently teach full-time at a local public school.
Today, I am a student at the University of Georgia where I am pursuing my Specialist in Teaching English as a Second Language. I bring both academic expertise and real-world teaching experience into every lesson I offer. My approach is rooted in sound second language learning theory, personal connection, and a genuine love for helping others learn in a way that’s meaningful and fun. Whether you’re just starting out or looking to build on what you already know, I’m here to help you grow with confidence and joy.

Thank you for choosing Spanish Lessons Valdosta. Our mission is to help children ages 5–18 build
a strong foundation in Spanish through engaging, age-appropriate lessons. We focus on
vocabulary, pronunciation, listening comprehension, and conversational skills to help students gain confidence and enjoy their language-learning journey.
Lesson Details & Pricing
Private Lesson (One Child): $30 per session
Lesson Duration: 45–60 minutes depending on age and group size
Payment Information
Registration Fee: $10 non-refundable, secures your spot
Lesson Payment: Due 24 hours before each scheduled session

Spanish Lessons Valdosta offers lessons in English and Spanish. We offer lessons for children 5-18 in Beginner Spanish, Spanish 1 and 2, Conversational Spanish and Home Schooling Spanish classes. In addition to this, English lessons are offered for those who speak other languages, at any level.
Yes! Please reach out to see if we are able to serve you, if not, we have highly recommended teachers that we can refer you to.
For optimal results, it is best to take lessons 2-3 times per week in Spanish. These times can be divided into daily 30 minute sessions. Each lesson lasts 1 hour.
Lessons are offered in different schedules to fit your needs. We have morning, afternoon, evening, and weekend options available.
